Job Title: Associate Organist

Background 

Trinity-by-the-Cove is one of the largest Episcopal Churches in Florida. It is located along a beautiful peninsula in Naples Bay in one of the most sought-after and rapidly growing communities in the country. Our worshippers offer a highly educated and appreciative musical audience, both in-person and virtual. Job Summary

The Associate Organist plays the organ for the Rite I  7:30 service from September-April and shares playing duties of the 4:30 Saturday Vigil service with cantor from January-Palm Sunday with the Director of Music. The Associate Organist also may be considered to assume the duties of the Director of Music and Organist for all services when the Director of Music is not present. The incumbent is to stimulate and strengthen the music program of the parish with emphasis on spiritual growth, congregational involvement and education.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as organist for 7:30 am Rite I service during September-April, providing organ music for prelude, offertory, communion, and postlude, plus an offertory hymn.
  • Shares playing duties with the Director of Music of the seasonal Saturday 4:30 p.m. Vigil service with cantor, from January – Palm Sunday.
  • Consideration to be the organist/choir director for the Sunday 9:00am & 11:15am services when the Director of Music is away. In the summer, there is just one choral service at 10:00 a.m.
  • Consideration to lead the weekly rehearsal of Trinity’s professional choir in the absence of the Director of Music. The choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. from September-May.

Qualifications and experience

  • Music education
  • Relevant experience as a liturgical musician.
  • Christian commitment and a passion for engaging congregations through music
  • Desire to work as a team member with the Director of Music, clergy, and staff.  

 Salary and Terms Summary

  • Hours per week vary with the season and Director of Music’s schedule.
  • Compensation is $200 per service for the 7:30 a.m. Sunday service, and $250 per service for the Saturday Vigil service with cantor.  Additional sessions when the Director of Music is away are compensated with additional sessions/rates.
  • Additional fees for weddings and funerals in the absence of the Director of Music.
